Forsberg have signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating our commitment to supporting those who serve, have served and their families. We recognise the value serving personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families, contribute to our business and our country.
As an Armed Forces friendly organisation, Forsberg have pledged to support the employment of veterans through valuing and recognising the skills and qualifications gained during service when recruiting for the company. We will utilise specialist recruitment agencies who are supporting veterans as well as providing training and career progression for those who join our team. Forsberg already have a number of former military personnel within key sales, technical, and management roles. We look forward to continuing to demonstrate this commitment and supporting UK forces.
Forsberg and the Light Dragoons, one of the British Army’s Light Cavalry Regiments, have been putting GPS Anti-Jam Technology (GAJT) to the test. Electronic Warfare is a significant threat in modern conflicts and it is imperative that essential PNT signals are protected from enemy interference. GAJT protects the Army’s GPS signal, which provides vital position and timing data, and was demonstrated on a NATO exercise in Poland during which British soldiers and industry partners worked together to test new capabilities for the Light Cavalry.
Dan Gardner, Technical Sales Manager from Forsberg PNT said:
“The Light Dragoons rely on a GPS signal for vital data and we were able to demonstrate that the GAJT-410 can provide protection from interference and intentional jamming and is easy to operate and install. It was a pleasure to support C Squadron of the Light Dragoons on Exercise Masurian Lightning whilst showcasing the key benefits of the GAJT solution”.
Our apprentices have just completed their apprenticeships here with us at Forsberg.
John and Rory joined us in December 2017 as part of the work experience they needed to support their course with Preston’s College. Following this, they both chose to do an apprenticeship with us, also through Preston’s college, to complete their HNC and NVQ.
John said of his time as an apprentice at Forsberg:
‘I enjoyed having responsibility and being treated like a proper member of the team. Being allowed to complete and plan tasks on my own and feeling that my judgments were trusted.’
‘My college mates didn’t have work experience nearly as good as the one I had. I didn’t feel forgotten about at any point and thought everything I was doing was interesting. I really enjoyed working with GNSS and decided that Forsberg was the best and most interesting option for me.’
As their time as apprentices were drawing to a close, John and Rory were interviewed for positions within the company which they were offered and have accepted. As of next week, John will fulfil the role of Production Test Technician and Rory our new Engineering Technician.
‘I Plan to develop my engineering knowledge through a Flexible learning HND. Completing this whilst working at Forsberg and working within real life engineering projects and scenarios will allow me to greatly increase my engineering knowledge and skills.’
We’re excited to support John and Rory with their next step and to see their progression throughout their careers in engineering.
Today marks the 1-year anniversary of our move to North Quay offices at Heysham Port. The move represented the exciting next stage in the development of the business and provided a superb platform for our future growth plans. Although this year especially has proved to be a challenging one for everyone worldwide, we have still managed to make some exceptional progress as over the last 12 months we have recruited 9 new roles and achieved investors in people status.
Sales Director Jim Waite says:
“moving to our new office has provided a fantastic new foundation for the business. We have significantly upgraded our Engineering, Production and Storage facilities and the increased availability of meeting rooms has fostered greater collaboration across departments. The pandemic has presented a considerable challenge for business operations but the available space has enabled us to maintain our high standards of manufacturing and customer service whilst introducing protocols to ensure that our team can operate in a safe and secure environment.”
Here’s to many more successful and happy years of enjoying our fantastic location and views across Morecambe Bay.
We are pleased to announce Forsberg and a number of other Lancaster electronics businesses have been successful as a consortium in receiving funding from the UK Government’s Fast Track Digital Workforce Fund to help get new talent into the tech and electronics sector in Lancaster over the coming years.
The project, known as Tech Lancaster was one of 14 projects to receive funding from a £3 million joint venture between UK Government (DCMS), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership (LDSP) and is the first of its kind in the UK. The fund will be utilised to provide employer led top-up technical training in and around the Lancaster area for both existing and prospective staff, with participants who finish the scheme guaranteed interviews at consortia companies. The training will include distance learning modules (MOOCs) and workshop/lab based tuition to help candidates gain industry specific skills (such as IPC certification) to make them work ready for local employers in the electronics and tech sector. The consortia will be working in conjunction with Lancaster and Morecambe College and other partners to deliver the scheme.
We are incredibly proud to be working with other electronics companies in our area to help address the skills gap and make a difference to those underemployed groups within our community. Recruitment and retention in the electronics industry is a constant challenge and as a company we strive to do our best to address this challenge and do what we can to make a difference.
Applications to join the programme are open to all and enrolment will commence in late September through the Tech Lancaster website. You can also follow the hashtag #FastTrackFund
Through the EnginE project our workforce challenges and skills gaps were reviewed, recommending a range of taster masterclasses to look at up-skilling key staff, and providing us with a Skills Champion Internship to help us get the latest version of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system off the ground.
“Joe Dodd, our bespoke project intern – a second year Finance and Economics student at Lancaster University – had prior experience with systems and operations processes. He certainly met our expectations and the outcome had a positive impact on our business. Even now that internship has finished, the ERP system he helped to set up is live and still growing. We were impressed with what was achieved in the 8 weeks, and we’ve used the experience to inform the creation of a new role in this area.”
Dr Raphael Treffny – Operations Manager at Forsberg Services Ltd.
Joe says the respect – and the impact – was mutual.
“My presence provided an outside perspective, coming into the business with a lot of energy, with a different view on how things could work. I sparked some interesting conversations with staff, and within departments, and we got people coming together to create more efficient processes.”
“The internship changed my future career objectives. I realised that an incredibly positive and employee focused SME like Forsberg makes for a great company to be involved with. I hadn’t previously considered this an important aspect of a job – working with passionate people and still feeling cared about by the business at an individual level”.
Joe Dodd – Bespoke Project Intern, Finance and Economics student at Lancaster University.

We are delighted to share that we have recently been awarded Highly Commended Employer status from Preston’s College, for providing exemplary support to their young learners. For the past 3 years, we have been supporting Preston’s College alongside the Government in trialling and supporting the new ‘T-Level initiative’ by offering work experience placements, enabling students to complete this qualification and have gone on to convert two of the placements into long term apprenticeship opportunities within our organisation.
“Their support has been exemplary for the college and it has provided a platform to build on whilst providing local talent the opportunity to grow and nurture their skills whilst studying a full-time course. During the trial period Forsberg have led the way in the Engineering sector, over-coming work placement practices and barriers to ensure our students were provided with the best support and opportunities to learn new practical skills.”
Steven Jones, Apprenticeship Training Support Officer at Preston’s College.
